DescriptionUp to 60 cm tall; rhizome short, creeping, woodys; sterile fronds evergreen, coria- ceous, forming circular crown, with pinnae 2-5 mm. broad; fertile fronds deciduous, central, erect, longer than sterile fronds and with narrower pinnae; at late stage of development, sori along margins of segments cover entire lower surface.
EcologyForests along shore, usually calcifuge. Described from Europe. Occasionally common in southeast Alaska, rare in Aleutian Islands.
