DescriptionTerrestrial forms have numerous sagittate leaves on slender peduncles. Alaskan specimens seen are water plants with sagittate or lanceolate leaves, lacking basal lobes, with submerged leaves reduced to phyllopodia; lower whorl or whorls of flowers are pistillate, upper whorls staminate, with lanceolate or narrowly ovate bracts; filaments glabrous, achenes obovate, with wide, rounded, dorsal keel.
