DescriptionCulms from short rhizomes, stout, up to 1 meter tall, coarse, 3—4 mm thick at base; ligules about 6 mm long; leaves up to 1 cm broad, scabrous, flat, becoming in- volute; panicle long, narrow, with stiff ascending branches; glumes 5-8 mm long acuminate, scabrous along entire keel; lemma with rather stout, geniculate awri from near base, shorter or about as long as lemma; callus hairs not exceeding half the length of lemma.
EcologyWet places along coast.
