DescriptionCulms up to 80 cm tall from subterranean runners, usually with only two nodes; ligules 3-6 mm long; leaf blades flat, harshly scabrous, 2-8 mm broad; paniclé 5-12 cm long, usually spikelike, with harsh, ascending branches; glumes opaque thick, short-acuminate, green on back, with dark-purple tips; callus hairs shorte; than lemma.
