DescriptionCulm stout; up to 1 meter tall; glabrous, from thick rhizome with runners; leaves up to 10 mm broad, flat, scabrous in margin; ligules ciliate, 1-2 mm long; panicle elliptic, with numerous spikelets and glabrous branches; spikelets light green when young; glumes broadly lanceolate; lemma pubescent on keel and lateral nerves; basal cobweb hairs lacking.
