DescriptionCulms from creeping rhizome; leaves short, rigid, 2—4 mm wide, the upper much shorter than its sheath; ligules about 4 mm long; panicle pyramidal, few-flowered, lower branches 2 together; spikelets ovate, purplish, 3—6-flowered; glumes acute, 3-nerved, scabrous on keel; lemmas with broad hyaline margins, obtuse, 5-nerved, densely lanate in lower half, strigose above.
