DescriptionTufted; culms up to 40 cm tall, stiffly erect from a decumbent base; ligules 2.5-3 mm long; leaves 2-2.5 mm wide, stiff, erect, glabrous, strongly nerved; panicle with mixed short and long branches; branches stiffly ascending or spreading, glabrous or obscurely scabrous, 2 to several at each node; spikelets 3—4-flowered; first glume acute or subacute, 1-nerved, the second broader, 3-nerved; lemma somewhat acute, obscurely pubescent on lateral nerves at base; palea strongly scabrous on keels; anthers 0.8 mm long.
