DescriptionDensely tufted; culms up to 30 cm high, capillary; basal leaves capillary, soft; panicle cylindric to lanceolate-ovoid, compact; spikelets usually purplish, sometimes yellowish-green; lemmas not strongly involute, short-awned; anthers 0.5-1 mm long.
EcologySandy and rocky places on tundra, and in mountains to at least 2,300 meters.
