DescriptionDensely caespitose; culms short, slender; leaves strongly convolute, 0.5-1 mm broad; spike oblong-ovate, solitary, bractless, with staminate flowers at top; scales obtuse or somewhat acute, reddish-brown with paler midvein; perigynia ovate- lanceolate, longer than scales, shining, brownish, stipitate, spreading at maturity, with short, glabrous beak; stigmas mostly 2.
EcologyMeadows, snow beds. C. pyrenaica described from the Pyrenees, subsp. micropoda from Unalaska.
