DescriptionLoosely caespitose with brown runners; culm triangular, glabrous, up to 30 cm tall, with reddish-brown sheaths at base; leaves flat, often extending beyond culms, 2-3 mm broad; spikes 3-5, the apical 1-2-staminate, the pistillate ovate or pro- longed, short-peduncled, often with staminate flowers at tip; lower bract extending beyond inflorescence; scales dark brown with lighter midvein, somewhat shorter than perigynia; perigynia elliptical or ovate, slightly nerved, with short beak.
