DescriptionCaespitose; culms stiff, with conspicuous old leaves at base; blades light green, 2.5-5 mm broad; spikes usually 3, the apical with pistillate flowers above, the lateral pistillate; lowest bract shorter than inflorescence; scales obtuse or somewhat acute, with white-hyaline margins at tip; perigynia obovate, purplish-black, granu- lar, with short, somewhat bidentate beak, 0.5 mm long; 3 stigmas.
