DescriptionCaespitose, light green; culms firm, tall, acutely triangular, glabrous; leaves flat, shorter than culm; lowest bract foliaceous, much longer than inflorescence; apical spike staminate, short-peduncled, the lateral pistillate, aggregated, subglobose; scales yellowish-brown with green midvein, lanceolate, acute; perigynia yellowish- green, shiny, with coarse nerves, 5-6 mm long, with curved, bidentate beak of the same length as the body or slightly shorter, the lowest reflexed.
EcologyMoist places, preferably on calcareous soil. Described from Europe.
