DescriptionLoosely caespitose; culms 5-15 cm long, with single leaf and bladeless sheatl at base; leaves about 1 mm wide; inflorescence usually with 2 flowers, one abov other; bract single, dark brown, ovate-lanceolate, reaching above flowers; periant soon becoming nearly black; capsule emarginate.
EcologyMoist gravel, margins of tundra ponds, snow beds, in mountains, to at leas 1,200 meters. Described from Lapland.
