DescriptionStem erect or decumbent, simple or branched, glabrous or nearly so; lower leaves petiolate, pinnatifid, with irregularly toothed segments and large, dentate or lobed terminal segment; upper leaves pinnatifid to entire; petals yellow, 1-2 mm long, as long as or shorter than sepal.
EcologyWet places, gravel, roadsides.

The Alaskan coastal plant differs slightly from the European R. islandica in having thick, obtuse, sausagelike silicles, slightly longer than the pedicels [var. occidentalis (S. Wats.) Butt. & Abbe; Nasturtium terrestre var. occidentale S. Wats.]. R. islandica described from Iceland, var. occidentalis from Shumagin Islands, etc.
