DescriptionEvergreen, loosely matted, with elongated (rarely spherical) caudices covered with withered leaves; leaves leathery, brownish-green, cuneate to oblanceolate, ciliate, with 3 apical mucronate teeth; flowering stem above, and inflorescence capitate-glandular; calyx lobes broadly triangular; petals elliptic, clawless, white, with yellow spots at base, red spots at tips; filaments subulate.
EcologyDry, sandy places, rock crevices, ridges; common in the mountains; in the Yukon to at least 2,000 meters. Described from Greenland.
