DescriptionLeaves mainly cauline, lower leaves 3-foliate; leaflets obovate tc oblanceolate, coarsely serrate, mostly spreading- to appressed-hirsute; stipules ovate, mostly toothed; bractlets somewhat acute; calyx enlarging in fruit; petals yellow, obovate, often retuse, shorter than calyx lobes; styles terminal, thick at base.
EcologyProbably both native and introduced; moist places, waste ground. P. norvegica described from Norway, Sweden, Prussia, and Canada; subsp. monspeliensis from cultivated specimens, presumably American.
