DescriptionSmall shrub; leaflets odd-pinnate, with 5-7 serrate to doubly serrate leaflets, sparsely long-haired below; stem nearly unarmed or with large infrastipular, straight, flat prickles, broad at base; sepals long, caudate, puberulent and glandular on back; flowers solitary, large, up to 7 cm in diameter, pink; hips globose to pyri- form.

Hybrids with R. acicularis occur where ranges overlap. In Asia, the closely re- lated R. amblyotis C. A. Mey. and R. davurica Pall. occur; broken line on circum- polar map indicates ranges of these closely related taxa.
