DescriptionStem floccose-tomentose, glabrescent below, from slender rhizome; leaves deeply divided into 3-5 broadly or narrowly lanceolate, more or less toothed, acute divi- sions, dark green and nearly glabrous above, white-tomentose beneath, the upper- most linear; inflorescence spikelike; involucral bracts elliptic to lanceolate, arach- noid-pubescent, with broad, dark, scarious margin; marginal flowers few, pistillate, the central perfect; achenes glabrous; pappus none.
EcologySandy places, in the mountains of the interior to at least 2,000 meters. Described from Kamchatka.
