DescriptionStem arachnoid-villous, from taproot; leaves more or less pinnatifid to coarsely toothed, green and sparsely arachnoid-villous on both surfaces, moderately spiny; heads single, or in small clusters, more or less arachnoid-villous; outer involucral bracts gradually tapering to short spine, the inner spineless; corollas purple; style exserted 3-8 mm beyond corolla lobes.
EcologyWet meadows, woods. Described from Chilliwack Valley, British Columbia.
