DescriptionStems usually several, from fleshy roots, forking, scapose, enlarged below heads and with numerous scalelike bracts; leaves somewhat glaucous beneath, in basal rosette, broadly oblong-lanceolate, sinuate-toothed to sinuate-pinnatifid, hispid with simple hairs; flowers yellow, the outer greenish beneath; involucral bracts lanceo- late-acuminate, bristly on midrib; achenes orange, muricate.
EcologyAn introduced weed. Described from Europe.
