DescriptionGlabrous or somewhat villous; leaves oblong-lanceolate, subentire to pinnatifid; heads single; outer involucral bracts oblong, short, the inner lanceolate; flowers orange, turning purple in age; achenes abruptly tapering into slender beak, half the length of the body or longer.
EcologyMeadows, in the mountains, to over 1,000 meters. Described from the Rocky Mountains.
