Description | Stem creeping in surface of soil, elongate, rooting, whitish-green; branches erect, blue-green, cylindrical or usually somewhat flattened, with leaves in 4 rows; spikes sessile, at tips of leafy branches. | ||
Ecology | Woods, meadows, and heaths, common from lowlands to mountains, absent from calcareous soil. Described from Lapland and Switzerland. | ||
Taxonomy notes | A good characteristic is the trowel-shaped ventral leaves, by which sterile specimens of this species can be distinguished from the sometimes similar L. complana- tum or L. sabinaefolium var. sitchense. |
