DescriptionRhizome slender, long, with light-brown, hairy, lanceolate scales; fronds solitary, widely separated, up to 40 cm tall; stipe twice as long as blade, hairy and scaly; pinnae hairy on both surfaces, scaly on veins, basal pair usually drooping in mature specimens; sori small, submarginal; indusium lacking.
EcologyWoods and stony slopes, common on southern coast from lowlands up to lower alpine region. Northernmost locality in Yukon valley is at a hot spring. Described from Europe and Virginia.
