Description | Rhizome short, erect, stout; sterile fronds in distinctly vaselike arrangement more than 1 meter tall, bright green; stipe short, blade pinnate with pinnatifid pinnae; fertile fronds in center of sterile fronds, and much shorter, persistent, dark brown in age, with linear obtuse pinnae. |
Ecology | Woods and along creeks. In Alaska apparently restricted to small isolated areas; very common in Susitna valley. Described from Scandinavia, Switzerland, and Russia. |
