Description | Similar to subsp. columbianum, but fronds generally taller (esp. in southern specimens), grayish-green; midrib of frond and segments sparsely pubescent, with crisp gray or brownish hairs, segments with more or less acute segments. | ||
Ecology | Rocks, tree trunks. Subsp. occidentale described from Sitka and Columbia River. | ||
Taxonomy notes | Most specimens have subacute leaves (var. commune Milde), but specimens with lanceolate, acute segments (var. occidentale Hook.) also occur, esp. south- ward. |
