Description | Medium-sized tree, 20-35 meters tall, with drooping branches; twigs 4-angled or somewhat flattened; leaves dull green, scalelike, appressed, pointed (occasionally acicular and patent on certain branches) ; cones small, globose, gray, with 4-6 scales, each tipped with conical projection, mostly ripening in second year. | ||
Ecology | Scattered in small groups in coastal forest from sea level up to about 1,000 meters, but best developed below 400 meters. |
