| Description | Submerged leaves linear, semiterete, with no differentiation of blade and petiole, rery different from ovate-to-oblong, long-petiolated, lustrous, grayish-green, coria- reous, many-nerved floating leaves; stipules long, longer in floating leaves than in ubmerged leaves; blade of submerged leaves soon perishes, leaving carinate, acute retioles, which persist; spike 4-5 cm long, with green fruits; beak short and broad. | ||
