Description | Stem usually branched; submerged leaves lanceolate to linear, acute, with long point; floating leaves (sometimes missing) long-petiolated, ovate-to-elliptic, acute or acutish, coriaceous, green; peduncles thicker toward apex; spike green, compact; fruits with short, recurved beak. | ||

Taxonomy notes | Hybrids with P. perfoliatus, P. praelongus, and P. alpinus occur. |
