Potamogeton filiformis Pers.
| |||
Family | Potamogetonaceae — APG family: Potamogetonaceae
Description | Stem filiform, branched especially at base; stipules adnate to base of leaf; sheaths ightly clasping, not much thicker than stem; leaves setaceous, brownish-green, lunt; peduncles filiform, long; spike with 3—4, usually widely separated whorls; ruit about 2 mm long, beakless.
Ecology | Shallow water. Range in Asia preliminary; plant very scattered there.
Taxonomy notes | Most specimens from area of interest are the northern var. borealis (Raf.) St. John P. borealis Raf.), with shorter, more compact spike of greater length than leaves; low growth, which seems to be merely a growth form, is apparently an adaptation to northern conditions. |
