DescriptionUp to 50 cm tall, tufted, lacking subterranean runners but usually with creeping, leafy stolons; culm geniculate at base, leaf blades 2-5 mm broad; ligules of lower culm leaves 2-4 mm long; panicle ovoid-oblong, in fruit contracted, green or gray- ish-violet, with numerous capillary scabrous branches; spikelets 2-3 mm long; lemma 1.5-2 mm long, a quarter to a third longer than palea, lacking awn; anthers 1-1.4 mm long.
EcologyIntroduced; waste places, roadsides, yards, fields. Described from Europe.
