DescriptionRelated to D. elongata, but annual and more low-growing, with few basal leaves; panicle more open; spikelets only at ends of branches; glumes exceeding florets; lemma with long (up to 6 mm) awn and pilose base.
EcologyWet places. Found at inhabited places only, thus doubtless introduced into our area. Described from northwestern North America.
