Taxonomy
notes
Var. pinetorum Piper (D. thermalis Scribn.), to which western American plant is often referred, differs in having glumes with weak lateral nerves, broadest at middle and covering or nearly covering florets, and with basal leaves less curved and twisted. Seems to be a very weakly differentiated taxon.
