DescriptionTufted, with subterranean runners; culms pubescent, slender, 10-35 cm tall, surrounded by old leaf bases; ligules 0.4—0.6 mm long, erose; basal leaves flat, 1.5— 2.5 mm wide, some involute, appearing nearly filiform; culm leaves short; panicle cylindrical to obovoid, contracted; glumes glabrous or nearly so; lemmas finely pilose, without awn.
EcologyDry, windswept places on tundra, sandy soil.
