DescriptionTufted, with culms geniculate or decumbent at base; ligules of upper leaves acute, 4-5 mm long (in large specimens); panicle lax, broadly ovate to oblong, with sca- brous branches, 3-5 together at base; glumes narrow, acute, the first short and 1-nerved, the second longer and 3-nerved, scabrous on keel; lemma prominently 5-nerved, glabrous except for silky keel, with distinct tuft of cobweb hairs at base.
EcologyWaste places, roadsides, yards; an introduced weed. Described from Europe.
