DescriptionCaespitose, glabrous, up to 50 cm tall; basal leaves numerous, short, linear, in- volute with marcescent sheaths; ligules about 3 mm long, acute; panicle with spread- ing or ascending, glabrous branches, bearing few spikelets at apex; spikelets 3—4- flowered, purplish; first glume shorter than the obtuse, 3-nerved second; lemmas lanceolate, 4.5-5 mm long, prominently 5-nerved, appressed, silky-pubescent at base; keels of palea scabrous.
