| Description | Green or glaucous, forming compact tufts; leaves 1-2(—4) mm wide, flat or loosely inrolled, usually minutely and densely hairy above; spike slender; spikelets 12-15 mm long, rather scattered, 6-8-flowered; glumes 5-8 mm long, glabrous, usually 4-ribbed, obtuse to acute; lemmas about 10 mm long, glabrous, with strongly divergent awn, up to 2 cm long; joints of rachilla scaberulous; anthers 4-5 mm long. | ||
