Description | Stout runners, with shiny, dark-reddish-brown sheaths; culms stiff, sharply tri- angular, with dried-up leaves at base; leaves stiff, flat, light green, 3—4 mm wide; terminal spike staminate, the lateral thick, pistillate, the upper approximate; lower bract shorter than inflorescence, with black auricles at base; scales black, with lighter midvein; perigynia flat or slightly biconvex, nerveless, green or purplish-black- spotted, with short beak; 2 stigmas. | ||
Ecology | Dry places, solifluction soil, mostly in mountains. Circumpolar map gives range of entire, very complicated, and still unclear complex. |
