| Description | Densely caespitose; culms triangular, scabrous, as long as leaves or shorter, with purplish sheaths at base; bracts leaflike, longer than inflorescence; spikes 4-5, the apical staminate, linear, prominent, the lateral ovate, few-flowered, some long- peduncled, subradical; scales lanceolate-ovate, acuminate, brown, with green, more or less excurrent median vein; perigynia longer than scales, pale green, nerveless, pubescent, long-stipitated, abruptly contracted into conical, bidentate, hyaline- margined beak. | ||
