DescriptionPlant with long, slender, grayish-brown, scaly stolons; culms smooth; leaves much shorter than culms, flat, yellowish-green; lowest bract short, with long, somewhat inflated, sheath; apical spike staminate, club-shaped, light brown, long-peduncled, the lateral 1-3 pistillate, peduncled, erect; scales grayish-brown, acute, shorter than perigynia; perigynia ovate, light-colored, nerveless, with slender, cylindrical, biden- tate beak, hyaline at tip.
EcologyMossy woods, bogs, wet places, in mountains to at least 700 meters.
