Description | Culms up to 25 cm tall, from long, light-brown, scaly runners; leaf blades flat, stiff, thickish, about as long as stem; heads mostly single, compact, hemispherical; lowest bract lanceolate, extending slightly beyond head; outer perianth segments acute, the inner obtuse, all of about same length, dark brown with lighter center; anthers 6, about as long as filaments; capsule oblong to obovate, emarginate, about as long as perianth. | ||

Taxonomy notes | J. falcatus is a complicated complex occurring also in Japan (var. préminens Buchenau) and in Australia and Tasmania. |
