Description | Caespitose, with short rootstock; culm straight, stiff, up to 15 cm tall, with basal filiform leaves and reddish-brown sheaths; leaves shorter than culm; head single, with 3-5 flowers on same level, subtended by 2-3 dark, spathiform bracts, mostly shorter than head; perianth segment ovate-lanceolate, dark reddish-brown in age, shorter than the mature, apiculate, blackish-brown capsule. | ||
Ecology | Moist places in open ground, heaths. Described from the “Alps of Lapland.” |
