Description | Stem from thick, fleshy, palmately lobed tuberoids; lower stem leaves close to base of stem; spike lax, few-flowered; lower bracts as long as flowers or slightly longer, the upper shorter than the flowers; flowers green or brownish; lip 3-toothed or sometimes nearly entire; remaining 5 perianth leaves together form hemispherical hood over lip. | ||

Taxonomy notes | The Alaskan plant belongs to the arctic-montane var. islandicum, with few- flowered spike; the outer perianth leaves much broader than the inner, and lip entire, or nearly so. C. viride described from northern Europe, var. islandicum from Iceland. |
