DescriptionStems from fleshy, rootlike tuberoids; leaves ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, the lower obtuse; spike many-flowered; flowers white, sweet-scented; lip papillate- margined, rhomboid at base, with linear apex; spur fihform usually shorter than lip.
EcologyWet meadows, bogs. Described from Labrador.

A narrow-leaved form, with spur longer than lip, is common (var. angustlfolla Hook.). P. dilatata forms hybrid swarms with P. convallariaefolia on the western coast (var. chlorantha Hult., with greenish flowers) and with P. hyperborea on the North American continent.
