DescriptionPale green, stem from an ovoid corm, surrounded by grayish-white sheaths; leaf solitary or 2, subbasal, long-sheathing; raceme slender; flower yellowish-green, with divergent segments; lip ovate or ovate-triangular, with indistinct basal lobes and slender, pointed tip.
EcologyMarshes, bogs. Described from Prussia, Sweden, province of Medelpad.

Typical plant has lip uppermost in the flower, and most Alaskan specimens are of this form. Specimens from Cook Inlet, however (see map), have the lip lower- most in the flower and belong to var. brachypoda (Gray) Morris & Ames (Micro- stylis brachypoda Gray). Broken line on circumpolar map indicates range of var. brachypoda.
