DescriptionProstrate shrub; twigs glabrous; leaves long-petiolated, obovate, blunt or short- pointed, entire or somewhat serrated in the margin, dull green above, glaucous beneath, slightly pubescent when young, glabrous in age, with prominent nerves, especially beneath; catkins erect, 3-4 cm long, on pubescent, leafy peduncles; bracts elliptical, brown, with long hairs; capsules ovate-conical, brown or purplish, glabrous, with style 0.6—-1.5 mm long.
EcologyStony places in mountains. Described from eastern shore of Lake Baikal.

Closely related to S. arctica subsp. torulosa, but differing in having completely glabrous capsules.
