Description | Stems matted, depressed or diffuse, sometimes ending in buds (f. gemmificans Norman); leaves sessile, slightly fleshy, highly variable in size and form, in arctic specimens small, broadly elliptic-lanceolate, in southern specimens larger, narrowly oblong-lanceolate, somewhat acute (var. linearis Fenzl); flowers solitary or few, in apical or lateral leafy cymes; sepals broadly lanceolate, acute, glabrous or some- what pubescent in margin (var. eriocalycina Schischk.), slightly shorter than petals; petals cleft nearly to base; capsule conical, pale, longer than calyx; seeds wrinkled or rugose. | ||
