Description | Matted, in high-alpine specimens densely so, with densely leaved runners; leaves flat, ciliate, distinctly 3-nerved, variable in form from long and linear to short and broad; pedicels glandular; flowers solitary; sepals oblong, blunt, glandular; petals about twice as long as sepals, white, very rarely rose-colored (var. rosea Hult.); capsule oblong, two to two and a half times as long as sepals. |
Ecology | Sandy and rocky slopes and ridges, moist places, mostly in the mountains, to at least 2,150 meters. Described from the west coast of Alaska. |
