Description | Stems glabrous, from short caudex; basal leaves glabrous, highly variable, circu- lar or semicircular in outline, often cordate at base, 3-cleft to divided, the middle lobe again 3-lobed, ultimate segments usually blunt; sepals 5, yellow, glabrous or with yellowish hairs; petals of highly variable size, yellow; receptacle cylindric, glabrous. | ||

Taxonomy notes | Hybrids with R. nivalis probably occur. Specimens approaching var. Suksdorffii (Gray) Benson (R. Suksdorffii Gray), with acute end lobes on the basal leaves, occur rarely. |
