DescriptionStems single from short caudex, glabrous below, more or less brown-hispid above; basal leaves several, glabrous, with reniform outline, cleft into 3-5 lobes, which are usually again lobed or toothed; stem leaves 1-3, sessile; flower solitary, highly variable in size; sepals 5, pubescent, from brown, stiff hairs; petals longer than sepals, yellow, glabrous; fruiting head elliptic-oblong; fruit with long, somewhat curved beak; receptacle glabrous.
EcologyWet meadows, along brooks in the mountains and on tundra, snow beds. De- scribed from Lapland and Switzerland.
