DescriptionStem simple, in lower part densely pubescent with fine, appressed, stellate hairs in the upper, glabrous; basal leaves entire, somewhat acute, canescent with fine, appressed, stellate hairs; pedicels strongly reflexed; petals pinkish; siliques linear, glabrous or sometimes finely pubescent, reflexed; style lacking.

Most specimens belong to var. retrofracta (Graham) Rydb. (A. retrofracta Graham ), with densely pubescent to pannose basal leaves, pubescent upper cauline leaves, and narrow siliques (1-2 mm wide). Var. pendulocarpa (Nels.) Rollins (A. pendulocarpa Nels.), with basal leaves less than 3 mm broad and cauline leaves lacking auricles, occurs at Whitehorse.
